Patent Etui or Mirriam-Webster definition (and pronunciation!)

I like small things. They fit into small spaces. They don't clutter.

And when it came time to choose a name for this venture, 'etui' fit nicely. Smaller than a cigarette case. Short. Slightly cute but not cloyingly so. Which describes what I like to make.

My husband makes the point that I am not really that tall. I am 5'10" ish. That's tall enough, right? And besides, "I am tall. I print small." sounds good.

Feel free to contact me if you have any questions. Everything is handmade with an emphasis on using socially and environmentally responsible materials. I have recently switched paper companies. I am now all French Paper all the time. But for some of the posters -- those are usually printed on Cougar, 100 lb.

I screen print at Artists Image Resource on the Northside of Pittsburgh, PA -- the best city... ever. I love AIR. And everything I need to know about screenprinting, I learn from watching Budai.

And, in case you're curious. My name is Julie Meredith. I live in a big old house in Pittsburgh, PA -- Lawrenceville, to be exact. I have a lovely husband. And two nice cats. I purl Norwegian, a gift from my mother. My 'real job' is freelance graphic design. was freelance design... (I am now a full time grad student.) I started printing because as nice as that job sounds, it can be very draining to force your creativity to conform to the taste of the corporate world. I do illustrations while killing time waiting for feedback or information.

Oh, and if you think that Pittsburgh is still a lost, wayward ex-steel town, you should come for a visit. I've lived in many a city and PGH is better than any of 'em.
